I Think We Found a Home

My state of panic was actually unwarranted as the snow stopped early afternoon and Chris and I made our flight out to Memphis.  We got into Memphis pretty late. We were staying at the Days Inn at Graceland, with the guitar shaped pool that looked like it was being renovated, and I was M-I-S-E-R-A-B-L-E! I believe I cried myself to sleep and begged Chris to let me go home. However, with some sleep, I tried to keep a positive outlook for the Chris' sake.  So we started "house" hunting, without any food in our stomachs, which is usually bad for me as I start well but it doesn't take long for me to get b*tchy!

Anyways the first apt. complex we went to I fell in love! It was bright and open and all the room we needed for now!  Here's what the outside of that place looked like. Bright colors and I love it!!!!

The second place we saw was ok! I wasn't in love with it but I wasn't closed off to the idea either.  After that we met up with a realtor from a property management group that rented out houses.  Lemme tell you, the girl sucked, for lack of a better word.  She didn't sell me on any of the houses, especially in her jogging suit, and really couldn't answer any of our questions.  When we asked her if the houses had been painted and were ready for move in she said yes, butttt upon walking through the house there were scuff marks all over the walls and it wasn't so.  Two of the three houses smelled like cat pee and I felt like they were out of the way from where we wanted to be. Not to mention for the price we were going to pay it didn't feel clean and safe for my standards.  So needless to say the first apt. is where we are going to try first and if that fails then the second one!

By the time we were done looking at houses, which, I think my adversion was partly due to my hunger, we decided to drive around and get a feel for the area.  Not before we had lunch though. On the way to one of the houses we saw this place called Logan's Roadhouse and we both said we had to go in honor of our son!  LOL. There were peanuts at all tables and you were allowed to throw the peanut shells onto the floor. Well I couldn't do it! I could not bring myself to throw the shells on the floor and neither could Chris. I had the best baby back ribs EVER!! I made Chris share dessert with me to get the little take home pail that said Logan's Roadhouse for Logan.

We made our way over to Beale St. but since I was still in a foul mood and trying to cover it up I went with the flow.  I went back to the motel for a nap and later we went to dinner with Chris' new boss and his wife at Harry's Detour.  It was good food but I was still full from our lunch earlier and couldn't eat the whole thing.
After dinner we went to see the TV station Chris would be working for! I'd never been inside of a TV station before and it was pretty neat to see how the news was made!  I got to see Chris' office and it needs some cleaning up and pictures but I'm sure Chris will get the job done with a little help from moi! LOL.  When we got dropped off Chris and I decided to head back towards the area of where we wanted to live and check out the stores without there being so much traffic. I found Barnes and Noble so we're good =)

On Sunday I was starting to feel okay about the whole moving thing and maybe it was because I knew we were leaving Memphis that night.  We visited more stores and bought Logan a TN license plate with his name on it from WalMart.  Then I went into my new favorite store, Eclectica Scrapbooks & Stamps! OMG I found the mother load! I'm so excited I can't wait to get down there and set up my area so I can buy stuff from down there! Hopefully if I sign up for some classes I can make a friend or two.  Here's what inside looks like

After that we checked out some furniture stores, a Kroeger, and then went back towards the city to snap some pictures of the city.

Hi Krystel,

You don't know me, but my name is Liz and I'm one of the layout instructors at Eclectica. I found your blog through a comment you left on their blog. I am also a transplant in Memphis and can honestly tell you it's not that bad.

I look forward to meeting you and hopefully having you in one of my classes.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Best of luck with the move and congratulations on your engagement!
