Did I mention how much I love fall? ;-)
Hope you all have a beautiful and fun weekend!

Hot Springs

Hot Springs was hot this weekend but I LOVED it and can't wait to go back with Logan, when it's much cooler! Ha! I wanted to do something a little special for my love's birthday (which was Saturday) and I thought a weekend getaway with just me fit the bill!

My mom was awesome enough to come down and watch Logan for the weekend. So we left Friday but before we left I went and bought Chris a cake to sing him Happy Birthday with Logan! Logan had fun singing, trying to blow out the candles and of course, eating the cake!

After that we headed out for a weekend away! On Saturday we enjoyed a Duck Tour, which was about an hour and 20 minutes of riding a bus/boat! It was fun and something Chris wanted to do! We visited Madam Tusseau's Wax Museum. I was able to take some pictures but after that my camera died!! GRR! So I didn't get to take the pictures I wanted (and in my defense I thought I had an extra battery, but I didn't).

We visited the springs which were across the street! This picture I took with my phone, so it's less than par but it's beautiful to see nonetheless.

We shopped at various little boutiques in the downtown area and ate at some pretty cute and good places! Later we went mini golfing!! It was so humid and sticky that we didn't take pictures of each other but I managed to get these two with my phone.
Pirates Cove

We didn't get to do all the things that I had listed, like, go their botanical gardens or the science museum, or their water park but those are things I think I'd want to do with Logan too so for sure we're going back!! Here's a list of places we shopped at and ate at:

Places We Shopped At:
The Savory Pantry -- Cute little food boutique. It definitely was a little pricier but I still bought these:

Bathhouse Soapery and Caldarium -- LOVE this little soap boutique! I got a sliver of "Hog Wash" soap, for free, that they make onsite and also two candles: "Fig & Milk" and "Bathhouse Couture"!! I would've walked out with all the candles! But I refrained.

The Winery of Hot Springs -- We did a free wine sampling here! It was free because we did the Duck Tour and the Wax Museum but the wines they make, again, I would've bought them all because they were delish and they're made in Arkansas and some even onsite! We did buy two, one for me (National Rose Park). The other we customized to ask Mason's godmother to be his godmother! Her flavor was Razorback Red Grape Wine!
Places We Ate:Granny's Kitchen -- It was a cute little diner like restaurant! Service was great and food was equally good!
Back Porch Grill -- We went here for dinner and I wasn't that impressed. Our waitress had no personality and kept asking us every 10 minutes or so if we were okay. I will say this, they took our plates away as we finished with them.  Not worth $90 though.

The Pancake Shop -- Breakfast food only but awesome pancakes! It was formerly called Mason's Pancake Shop. Go there!
Places We Visited:Hotsprings
Fordyce Bathhouses
Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum
Hot Springs Mountain Tower -- We drove up the mountain, we didn't go up the tower, but we did get to watch a DUI get apprehended! Scary to think he was driving up the mountain the wrong way.

Pirates Cove

National Park Duck Tour--Lake Hamilton -- Fun and interesting way to kill an hour and 20 minutes in the heat!

We came home Sunday after visiting the Bathhouse boutique and having breakfast! But we had a good weekend and can't wait to go back! We kept cool even though it was HOT!! Stay cool this week it looks like another hot one! (I just realized how long this post is, forgive me!)

Oh, bother!

Today I was given the rare pleasure of having off from work! Woo! Chris wanted to go strawberry picking and I thought we were going locally except we weren't. He wanted to head over to Cedar Hills Farm and so we packed up for a mini day trip and left, howeverrr, when we got there there was NOTHING going on except a birthday party. It was looking kinda empty so Chris went up to ask somebody what was going on and he was told that they had taken the strawberries over to their local farmer's market and sold out!! The guy there gave Chris some tips and so we decided to head on back home. Hopefully we'll have better luck next time!

On our way to the farm I saw an ice cream shop, not a chain shop, but a privately owned one! I definitely wanted to stop there so on our way back we stopped at Velvet Cream, a.k.a The Dip! OMG! Delish and I don't think I'm saying this because I'm pregnant but I have been nostalgic for some good soft serve ice cream, so I could totally be biased =)

Anyway I had a mix (chocolate/vanilla ice cream) with sprinkles in a waffle cone, Chris had a Reese's Pieces concrete (the equivalent to a Blizzard) and we got Logan a mix in a cup! Amazing! Made me miss local places like Strollo's Italian Ice (which serves ice cream as well) from back at home.

Logan loved it too!
Yes, I'm a brave soul for letting my son eat chocolate ice cream in my car!
I only wished I took a picture of what his white shirt looked like when we got home.

Oh P.S. I'm joining Liz with her picture a day in May!! It's starts tomorrow! Go here to read and see her past posts on a pic a day in May and grab her button (which is below) if you decide to join in on the fun =)

Offer Accepted and Other Things

We officially accepted a fair offer on the house, last night. Now let the fun begin! I'm so excited, nervous, and have only had two panic attacks so that's good! Ha! Honestly, though, I can't believe we're going to be homeowners. We, hopefully, will be closing on the house in January of 2011 and probably won't move in until sometime in February!

This weekend we we've all been sick. Blech. It's not fun, especially, when I need to get some shopping done and sent out this week for our family back at home. We pushed through, though, and got most of the stuff done, wrapped and sent out. Go us! We even got to do some wrapping done for Logan's stuff, but I'm still feeling blech and so is everyone else. Poor Logan's got some teeth coming through on top of not feeling well!

We've also had some pretty cold weather, here in the Memphis area, and I'm loving it! I've had a Starbuck's hot chocolate at least once everyday! I'm sure I've gained some major pounds in the last week but I love warm drinks and soups on a cold, fall (winter?) day! So that's why you see pretty pictures of warm drinks.

Hope you all had a great weekend! Here's to a great week ♥

Weekend Recap!

We've had a busy week since Thursday!

It started with Starry Nights at Shelby Farms Park on Thursday!
Their light show is soo cute!
If you live in the area I definitely recommend seeing it
if you've never been.

Friday was my 26th Birthday! Woo!
We had dinner at Coletta's, wish was good.
Then came home to have cupcakes from Gigi's Cupcakes.
They aren't Magnolia Bakery's cupcakes but they
were delish!
(I love me some cupcakes!)
Logan enjoying his cupcake!
Is it weird that I asked for a food processor?
I can't wait to use it!!

Saturday Logan had his pictures taken
At 8:20 in the AM! Yes early in the morning!
And he did wonderfully
Here's my favorite and this year's Xmas card.
After that we did some Christmas shopping.

Sunday (12-5) was a milestone day for Chris and I!
We made our first offer to buy our first house!
This is the one we've picked to hopefully,
if all goes well, call home. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I've got some blog reading to catch
up on once we've done lunch and naps ♥

Fall, Where Are You?

This weekend was far from fall like for us! On Saturday we attended the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Foundation's 3rd Annual walk at Shelby Farms in memory of Mary Frances, Chris' friend's mom! They had an awersome turn out, even though, it was HOT!! The end of the walk was pretty emotional, with the releasing of doves, which I didn't know was going to be there! They had 15 survivors walking and they also released the doves! I teared up!

Team Mary Frances-Memphis!

Driving in his car.

Sunday was pretty much a relatively lazy day! We spent the whole day at home and caught up on the domestic needs. I'm down to just ONE box that needs to be unpacked! It's about darn time!! Although it was 97 degrees outside, inside it was as fall as fall gets. Chris cooked up some chicken soup in the crock, which smelled delish, add the smells of cookies and fall candles, and one would've thought it was 70 degrees outside! I'm hoping fall gets to TN soon because I'm homesick for some New England fall!

Busy Bees

That's what we all were this weekend: busy bees!! This weekend was full of being outdoors and it was great to be outside since we've suffered some pretty HOT temps this summer! Saturday we spent most of the day at the Delta Fair at the Agricenter! It was a rainy, cloudy morning and early afternoon but it was PERFECT, for me at least. For a county fair it was definitely bigger than some that I've been too! The amount of rides and carnival games, I felt like I was at an amusement park! Unfortunately, Logan was only able to really go on a few rides so we bought enough tickets for those rides and he had a blast!! He went on the Merry Go Round twice (he flipped out after we took him off and the attendant let him go for another round) and then he went on some Ducky/Boat ride! He went on that twice too!!
Logan with the penguin that we paid $10 dollars for playing a game!
Bob Bohm's Magic Show!

So the Delta Fair also has a petting zoo area and as soon as we entered Logan threw his hands up to the animals to touch them! So Chris bought some feed to feed them and whereas I thought it was icky, Logan LOVED it!!! He was shrieking and kept throwing out his hand even if he didn't have any food!
We had lunch and then left bc Logan was getting antsy!

I decided to go over to Eclectica and join the SNL group!! So much fun and we made such amazing layouts, I'll have to post about them later!

Sunday was the Germantown Festival at the local park! The festival was more of a meet the local artists and businesses, although there were rides, food, and little races going on! I actually had a lot of fun here too! Chris and I met the girls who run the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Foundation! They were lovely and I would love to work with them for next year's walk!
(My festival purchases)
One of the businesses we talked with, Spring River Candles, located in Hardy, AR, actually recycles wine, champagne, and beer bottles and flattens them to make them cheese platters, spoon holders, bowls, or wall art!! So as you can see I bought one, after much debate with my own voice of reason! The wires for the flowers can't come out but the flowers can be changed! I was so intrigued by her work that I wanted to buy more but she only had dark bottles left!  That candle was also made by them!
The Weenie Dog Race
(So cute!)

It was such a beautiful day but the son was HOT! So we went home and just relaxed! Chris and I ended our weekend with a walk and a game of Scrabble! He cheated as you can see!
(He used the word "haven't" and the names "Zach" and "Arod". The name Ryan was my attempt at retaliation but I felt guilty knowing I wasn't any better!)

Back to life, Back to reality!

But first let's recap the happenings of this weekend starting with Friday! Well my mom was so awesome and took Logan for the weekend, so I was left with a free weekend sans baby, to relax! And relax I did. I got all those errands that are 2 seconds, but longer with baby, done in a matter of an hour. Chris surprised me with an "Go to B&N and buy yourself the Nook, here's $$"! Needless to say I bought it, I love it, and I haven't let it go since! (Ha! I guess my talk [begging] paid off!! =)
I got to have lunch with Christopher at Celtic Crossing, in Memphis, which is my new favorite place to go. Can't wait for St. Patrick's Day! Slainte!! =)
After lunch I had a mini pedicure over at Gould's Salon Day Spa & Salon! I love that place and I've only gone in there one other time for a brow wax. But the girls/guys are sooo nice and they always talk to their clients, which is great! Anyways, after that I went home and played with my Nook, when I should've been packing to go away.

The goal for this weekend was for Chris and I to go away, locally, and give my mom the opportunity to spend the whole weekend without us. Since we would still have to pick up Logan we headed out that way and decided to go to Branson, where we could shop at the outlets and do whatever there was to do. Well that didn't happen. All the hotels and the decent looking motels were taken, booked solid, apparently, lots going on in Branson. So tired and hungry (we left without eating dinner) I made the executive decision to go to my mom's.  Weekend getaway goal=failed but at least we got to spend sometime with my parents and sister! All in all a good weekend!

Finally!

I'm able to blog again. I have been without a computer for what felt like weeks but was only 2 days or so. This weekend we went to my mom's and I left my computer charger there! UGH. My battery life is a max of 2 hours and it was already halfway used up. I would only go on to check things real quick and get off but it happened. The computer died and I felt like I'd been disconnected from the world. But it came today, finally! So now I'll quickly sum up a relaxing weekend, a delish meal, and plans for my sweetie's bday!

Relaxing Weekend:
Memorial Day weekend was RELAXING. It was nice to be with my mom and see my grandparents and introduce Logan to farm animals. He wasn't to keen with donkeys and ponys (maybe because they were his height and came up to fast) but he loved the horses and the dogs, of course. We bought Logan a baby pool to cool off in, and, at first, he was scared, but we showed him that it was similar to bath time and, well, he took to it and didn't want to come out. We were home by Monday night and crashed! Even though it was a 4 hour drive it felt much longer!

Delish Meal:
Last night I made a chicken dish using a recipe that I read in --you guessed it-- Real Simple. Have I told you guys how much I love that mag?! Well, I do. I really need a subscription! Anywho, it was amazingly good! The name of the recipe is Spiced Chicken with Couscous Salad...Normally I would've have posted the recipe itself but since I feel the post is sorta long so I've attached the link! But I will post the pic since I plated it just like they did =)

Sweetie's Bday:Tomorrow is my sweetie's bday! I want to make it extra special because it's his first bday away from his family. My plan is to make him a pork fajita dinner (yum), make him a devil's food cake with chocolate icing on the outside and vanilla icing in the middle, and make him pistacchio pudding (not my favorite kind but he likes it and it's about him tomorrow). I'm also making him a flap book with pictures of him and Logan (it's intended to be a gift from Logan)! That's that. I have a busy day tomorrow! ♥
