Rain Rain Go Away!

I've been feeling like my tree today.
I had some grand plans to clean out my closet and go through Logan's toys.
I did neither.

I'm ready for the sun to come back and some milder weather to return too.
This poor tree is weighted down by the amount of water that has been pouring on
us and the surrounding areas.

If you want to see how devastating the rainfall is becoming head on to Terri's blog, at Peace Love & Applesauce.  The pictures she posted really show the reality of it all.

Weekend Recap!

We've had a busy week since Thursday!

It started with Starry Nights at Shelby Farms Park on Thursday!
Their light show is soo cute!
If you live in the area I definitely recommend seeing it
if you've never been.

Friday was my 26th Birthday! Woo!
We had dinner at Coletta's, wish was good.
Then came home to have cupcakes from Gigi's Cupcakes.
They aren't Magnolia Bakery's cupcakes but they
were delish!
(I love me some cupcakes!)
Logan enjoying his cupcake!
Is it weird that I asked for a food processor?
I can't wait to use it!!

Saturday Logan had his pictures taken
At 8:20 in the AM! Yes early in the morning!
And he did wonderfully
Here's my favorite and this year's Xmas card.
After that we did some Christmas shopping.

Sunday (12-5) was a milestone day for Chris and I!
We made our first offer to buy our first house!
This is the one we've picked to hopefully,
if all goes well, call home. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I've got some blog reading to catch
up on once we've done lunch and naps ♥

Thankful.

I'm so thankful for so many things and I think for the most part we are all thankful each and every day for what we have but it's also nice to have a holiday that reminds of these things, people, and places that we are thankful for.

I'm so happy and thankful for airplanes because they flew my future in-laws in from New Jersey to spend time with us and with their grandson. This, in turn, makes me thankful for family.

We had a such a great visit with them. We went to the Peabody Hotel and saw the "marching ducks". They really ran but Logan loved it! We went to the Fire Museum and the boys were in Heaven! We ate a Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken! Yum-o!! They have absolutely the best cole slaw EVER!!!

Sunday Chris and his parents, with Logan, went to Bass Pro Shop. Logan was able to see Santa and he was very scared. There was photographic proof to prove it and as soon as I get it off the site I'll post it because it's the most pitiful and funniest picture ever! His grandparents looked great in the pic though!

We were sad to see them go today! Logan had a pouty face after we dropped them off. I'm sure he's missing them...I know I am. I think I need to start planning our New Jersey trip soon!

Busy Bees

That's what we all were this weekend: busy bees!! This weekend was full of being outdoors and it was great to be outside since we've suffered some pretty HOT temps this summer! Saturday we spent most of the day at the Delta Fair at the Agricenter! It was a rainy, cloudy morning and early afternoon but it was PERFECT, for me at least. For a county fair it was definitely bigger than some that I've been too! The amount of rides and carnival games, I felt like I was at an amusement park! Unfortunately, Logan was only able to really go on a few rides so we bought enough tickets for those rides and he had a blast!! He went on the Merry Go Round twice (he flipped out after we took him off and the attendant let him go for another round) and then he went on some Ducky/Boat ride! He went on that twice too!!
Logan with the penguin that we paid $10 dollars for playing a game!
Bob Bohm's Magic Show!

So the Delta Fair also has a petting zoo area and as soon as we entered Logan threw his hands up to the animals to touch them! So Chris bought some feed to feed them and whereas I thought it was icky, Logan LOVED it!!! He was shrieking and kept throwing out his hand even if he didn't have any food!
We had lunch and then left bc Logan was getting antsy!

I decided to go over to Eclectica and join the SNL group!! So much fun and we made such amazing layouts, I'll have to post about them later!

Sunday was the Germantown Festival at the local park! The festival was more of a meet the local artists and businesses, although there were rides, food, and little races going on! I actually had a lot of fun here too! Chris and I met the girls who run the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Foundation! They were lovely and I would love to work with them for next year's walk!
(My festival purchases)
One of the businesses we talked with, Spring River Candles, located in Hardy, AR, actually recycles wine, champagne, and beer bottles and flattens them to make them cheese platters, spoon holders, bowls, or wall art!! So as you can see I bought one, after much debate with my own voice of reason! The wires for the flowers can't come out but the flowers can be changed! I was so intrigued by her work that I wanted to buy more but she only had dark bottles left!  That candle was also made by them!
The Weenie Dog Race
(So cute!)

It was such a beautiful day but the son was HOT! So we went home and just relaxed! Chris and I ended our weekend with a walk and a game of Scrabble! He cheated as you can see!
(He used the word "haven't" and the names "Zach" and "Arod". The name Ryan was my attempt at retaliation but I felt guilty knowing I wasn't any better!)

Memphis in May

Getting ready for his Memphis in May experience

Last night, Chris' job, hosted their client party at Tom Lee Park, for Memphis in May. Now Memphis in May is a month long series of events, hosted obviously in Memphis, each week focusing on a different aspect of culture (i.e. music, food).  If I'm wrong please tell me because this is how I understood what it was all about! This weekend is all about the BBQ contests going on! I really did love this and next year Logan is going to Grandma's so that Mommy and Daddy can enjoy this a little bit more!

Anyways before I experienced Memphis in May I really thought that 1) that it took place on Beale St., 2). that it was like a neighborhood party --you do need tickets and they do cost $$ (I don't know how much but I don't think it's much) & 3). it was small.  WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! I'm glad I was too!

This is just a tiny part of what the park looked like. There were tents and tents and more tents! Some tents were home to BBQ contenders, who each had a creative name, very creative tents and delicious smelling BBQ, while other tents housed sponsers and reserved (private) parties. Each with their own music, food, drinks, people. Whoever catered for the station made some amazing BBQ, I probably could've eaten it all night! HA!

This is the Grizzlies tent. The Grizzlies are Memphis' NBA team!

Here's the stage where they had local artists competing to be "Queen of Memphis of May" and where they had awards!

The view from up top! Beautiful! We did have someone at the station take a family picture, so hopefully they'll send Chris an email with that photo in it because it was cute =) Lots of fun, if you read this and are in the area go and have fun, bring the umbrella though because I hear it's gonna rain!

Homesick

We made it to Tennessee but I'm not gonna lie...I'm homesick! It took a total of 18 hours to get here in the car (we also had to go slow because the U-Haul could only go so fast). Logan was a trooper doing 13 hours in one day!
Logan in the backseat with his pal Scout!

I was at my wit's end, even though, I'm completely appreciative of the help! This is entire move did not go as I had planned in my head. When we got to the apartment it was dirty, smelled of smoke, and was even in some places broken (holes in the doors, etc.)! I was completely appalled, making the transition completely worse! I do have to say that I now know what Southern hospitality means. Even though the complex was quick to defend their workers and whatnot they set out to set things straight (carpets cleaned and place repainted in the same day and the linoleum replaced next day)! A door and new microwave were ordered but when we came back the kitchen light had blown out and the sink was leaking!! Could this get any worse?!

Logan climbing inside the fridge!

With the apartment taken care of and the bigger pieces moved in we called it a day and the next day finished the move. We had to take the U-Haul back which was fine until I missed my exit and GOT LOST!! Completely lost!! Keep in mind I had no cell phone and the GPS was with Chris who I was following...Long story short, I found someone to ask for directions, got back where I needed to be and miraculously found the U-Haul without even trying (I was already set on going back to the apt. to get my phone)! Still I was frazzled because this was only our 2nd day!

Boxes and toys in the sunroom

Boxes and boxes in the dining room!

Yesterday I decided to just stay home and unpack and gather my thoughts. I need to stop sulking but I'm sad but I also know that with time this place can become my home. I accomplished alot of unpacking and I think we finally got a handle on our kitchen! Today we're under a tornado watch...weird to even type that because I've never even had to worry about that. I think Chris and I are going to have to set up a plan for when stuff like this happens because we've been hearing sirens and thinking they're fire station sirens when in reality they've been tornado sirens.  Just another adjustment, which is fine, but I still miss home. I am thankful that the people down are here are extremely helpful, pleasant, polite, and will talk to just about anyone...I needed that! ♥
My finished (for now) closet!!

Sooo...

Days are getting progressively closer and closer to moving day and time seems to be going faster because nothing is really done. Only 7 total boxes have been packed! I've been enjoying being home and trying to cram in play dates and get togethers because soon they'll be far and few between. It's also been really nice and who wants to spend it inside packing!? Certainly not I. But alas, I must, because this move is happening and we do need to be on our way!

Anywho, we've bought a new car too. The 2010 Toyota Venza, their version of a crossover (which I'm starting to think is a new term for station wagon!). I love it. It drives like a car, doesn't look like a station wagon, but has the space of an SUV. I wanted a Lexus but Chris said not yet. So we went for this and I'm okay with that. I wanted red, but they sold out. I wanted black next but Chris said silver was probably best at hiding dirt and scratches, so silver it was! When I take a picture of it I'll post it up!

I think I've also decided that a NJ wedding is what I ultimately want! Outdoors in the fall near the beach. Destination wedding is probably cheaper, but I'm counting on this being my only wedding and I want our families to be a part of it. So I'll be looking at two venues, maybe, today, hopefully, this week! I'm excited!! It's gonna be tough planning a NJ wedding in TN but I'll probably have fun with it!! And that's all I got for you guys to sum up my past week. I'll make the next post fun =)

Oh The Whether Outside is Frightful!

Yes, once again, the Northeast is being slammed with another "blizzard" and plainly put it's screwing up my weekend...Well the weekend won't be so bad because by tomorrow we should have sunny skies but it's screwing up my Friday. Chris and I are supposed to be flying to Memphis tonight to search for a new place to call a home for when we relocate. We're set up with a realtor and everything right now but low and behold the snow may threaten to cancel any and all plans for a weekend trip. Yes I've been checking the airline and they still say "on time" yet the airport only gives you information 6 hours in advanced so I'm waiting.

In the meantime I still need to decide if it's worth continuing to pack for Logan's weekend because, unfortunately, in order to get stuff done, we need to leave him here in New Jersey.  He'll be staying with his grandparents and then aunt and uncle.  But, again, is it worth it?  I also have to decide how we'll be getting up to the airport. Intially (and still) my future SIL (no not engaged yet) was going to drive us up there. But I just drove the parkway and it was completely not safe and not plowed. Soooo to keep her safe I'm debating whether we should find an alternate way to get up there!

The one good thing is that Chris is home! Yay. So I really should be saying that WE are debating because since he's home he should at least help out with the details, right?   I would really rather climb into bed and go back to sleep. Let me tell ya how tempted I really am, especially, when I'm on my bed writing this post! LOL.

Sundays are...

....definitely not a work day! Even though it was only 5 hours it was 5 hours too long! I would have rather have slept through 7 AM instead of being up at 7 AM! Yeah last Sunday was way better.  Super bowl was awesome (I didn't watch it).  I loved that New Orleans won though!! Woo for the Saints. I wasn't happy about having Chris break the news about Memphis to everyone. Yeah that's right...Memphis. The city that is supposed to be an opportunity for us even though it's the biggest unknown yet and we're not even engaged! I cried. I'm not sure I want to go. I have nothing or anyone out there. My mom's 4 hours away so that's a plus. Still I won't have someone knocking on my windows at all kinds of inopportune times. Crap. I'm a Jersey Girl. How the hell do you pump gas? Coach outlet is in Nashville which is 3 hours AWAY. Yes I already looked for the Coach outlet...lol. I'm not shallow, I just love my Coach! =) I'm sad. Chris is worried about money, in fact, I feel that's all I ever hear out of his mouth. It's becoming a nuisance actually.

I'm trying to feel a little better by using this blog as an outlet because Chris and I are almost on our 3rd full blowout over the subject. I don't feel like using this blog though as a place to whine so I'm going to post some pretty stuff in purple..Yeah I don't like purple but Real Simple had some cute inspiration for the color.
